Happy March to all those who celebrate!

March may signal the start of spring, but to sports fans, it marks the best time of the year–March Madness.

Let’s do a quick prediction and breakdown of the women’s bracket:

As of today (March 1), UCLA, Texas, South Carolina, and USC are the 1-seeds and will host the regional section of the tournament.

In Spokane Region 1: I have UCLA and Alabama winning out with No. 2 LSU being upset by No. 7 Louisville. Jeff Walz’s squad is my sleeper pick in Spokane. I am also going to take No. 6 Iowa upsetting No. 3 Duke. Lucy Olsen and Hannah Stulke have March Madness experience under their belts, setting them up for success. I will take UCLA beating Iowa to win the region.

Birmingham Region 2: Texas and Tennessee have proven to be tough in the SEC and will continue to show that through their first two games before meeting each other again. As a Vols fan, I will be biased and say they’re going to beat Texas despite the early season loss in Austin. In the bottom of the bracket, I am taking No. 6 Florida State over Hailey Van Lith and No. 3 TCU. NC State will cruise their first two games, beating Florida State yet again. Tennessee will take down NC State in a thriller.

Spokane Region 3: No. 1 USC and No. 4 Oklahoma will both win out in their first two games, matching up for the top of the bracket. USC is more versatile than the Sooners, giving them the upperhand and the win. North Carolina will blow by Norfolk State for the second time this season, leaving them to match up with WVU. The Tarheels will meet Uconn and the end of their NCAA tourney journey. If Azzi Fudd continues to play the way she has been, Uconn will have their official get back against JuJu Watkins and the Trojans.

Birmingham Region 4: No. 1 South Carolina will meet No. 5 Ole Miss after the Rebels take down Kansas State in their second game. The consistency of the Gamecocks will prove true once again in this SEC matchup, as they will come out on top. I would ask if Notre Dame can handle the size of Kentucky’s triple-big threat, but the same could be said about the duo of Miles and Hidalgo for the Irish. It will be a classic showdown with Notre Dame coming out on top (sorry, Georgia Amoore<3). Continuing their tear on SEC teams, Notre Dame’s efficiency and offensive threats will help them edge a win over South Carolina.

To my final four will be UCLA, Tennessee, Uconn, and Notre Dame. Let me get through the rest of regular season and conference tournaments before making my final predictions about these powerhouses….
