Ummm, I have not posted a blog since August….I know, shame on me. And I haven’t posted a new bangers update since February!!! Now that classes are over and I’m about to be off from basketball for a few days, I thought it was the perfect time to get some blog posts out. It is only right that I begin with a list of bangers. Please enjoy my most recent “do not skip” playlist hits ❤
- Deeper Well (Kacey Musgraves)– The lyrics to this song embody the past year I’ve had. Basically she’s saying she doesn’t have it all figured out but she’s okay with that because she knows the path she’s on is the right one, despite others going a different way. “You go your way and I’ll go mine.”
- In The Kitchen (Renee Rapp)- Y’all know I love a good sappy heartbreak song, and this is the one. Songs that make me physically feel pain if the scenario were to happen to me are always going to make this list. It’s giving the type of pain that SZA puts out.
- Coming Home (Leon Bridges)- Let’s do a complete 180 from the previous song to this lovely gem. In addition to heartbreak songs, I LOVE a good love song. Although it was released in 2015, Leon Bridges’ voice is so 60s-70s smooth.
- Russell County Line (49 Winchester)- Even though I don’t list these songs in favorite order, I would have this one first if that were the case. Nothing makes me feel more nostalgic about Southwest Virginia than this song. It just does something to my soul.
- Don’t Know Why (Norah Jones)- I’m pretty sure that if you were born 2002-2004 that this song is somehow ingrained into your brain like it is mine. I have no clue if our moms were collectively playing this song or what, but it takes me right back to childhood. I imagine sitting on the counter in some rooster themed kitchen.
- Nobody Gets Me (SZA)- This song will never not make the list. That’s all.
- Used To Be Young (Miley Cyrus)- My friends and I have always felt we lived a large life before most kids our age, which is exactly what this song feels like. Also, it’s Miley so do I really need to say more?
- Like Him (Tyler, The Creator)- “You only like that because of TikTok”…okay let’s calm down now. Yes, I will like and contemplate reposting every single basketball edit that I see with this song; however it just does something inside me. Let me be basic in peace.
- One Last Breath (Creed)- Honestly, all divorced dad rock could have made this list because if I’m in the car with my boyfriend, that’s what we’re listening to. Creed is the classic so they hold the honor of making the list.
I could have added many more, but these are the few that are never skipped until I play them so many times that I need a rest. Per usual, my taste is all over the map but that’s what makes my bangers list so fire.
