Well here it is…my new roundup of car jams!!! Since I’ve recently adopted the college commuter lifestyle, I live out of my car most days. Sitting in parking lots to eat my lunch in between classes because I don’t have time to run all the way home. So, I obviously need some good music to pass the time.

3. Where We’re Going (James and the Shame)- Just let me be barefoot strolling down the beach at sunset or laying in the bed of a truck in some grassy field during summertime. That’s exactly what this song gives—sunshine, warmth and hopefulness.

4 & 5. Run (Foo Fighters)/ Don’t Look Back in Anger(Oasis)- Wrapping these together because they have the same effect. Angry Dad Rock has been my go-to recently. I don’t know why—don’t ask. While I jam out to these in the car, these are excellent shower bangers. My old roommate probably hates these songs because I used to always have my own little concert with these two in the apartment…sorry, Mo.

6. Heart it Races (Dr. Dog)- My boyfriend makes fun of me each time I play this but I’m standing my ground with it. I first found this song when I was looking for a sound to make a TikTok, but fell in love with its vibe and softness. We all probably know Dr. Dog from his song in the Outer Banks show, but he has many other good ones that have the same kinda feel.

7. Easy on the Eyes (Texas Hill)- So apparently I’m late to the party with this song (per usual) and it has been around for a while now. There’s just something about country love songs that literally take me to a whole new world. I just envision someone’s cutesy little barn wedding and the newlyweds having this as their first dance song….ugh I could cry thinking about it. You’ll find yourself just slowing head bobbing to this song.

8. Lift Me Up (Rhianna)- This one may be a hot take and y’all are probably asking “Why is she just now listening to this song? It came out for the Black Panther movie like two years ago..” Well, like I said, I’m always late to the party with certain songs. As I’m writing my reasoning for liking all these songs, I’m learning that every time I want to use the word “comforting” to describe these songs. So apparently my decision to choose inner peace has translated to my music hahah. Anyways…give it a listen when you just need a chill song.

9. You Broke My Heart (Drake)- We all know why I put this on here. That one part of the song. 2:16-3:04

10. Crying in the Car (Megan Thee Stallion)- Y’all, don’t come for me when I say this but I am not a huge fan of Megan or Nicki just because that’s doesn’t feel on brand for me hahah. However, I discovered this song my junior year of high school when I first got my license and felt like the baddest bitch driving around with this song (probably because its one of very few song by Megan that I understand the words to). So girl, dry your angry tears and turn this shit up! (Also, TEAM MEGAN!)

After reading all of this y’all are probably like “damn this girl is all over the place” but what do y’all expect? Just for reference: the angry dad songs were from around December when my life was a shitshow and the soft, sappy songs are more recent to the vibes I’m bringing into my life lol.
