My Current Go-To Playlist

Much like all the other Gen Zers, I constantly have my Apple Music playing, whether in my airpods or jamming out in my car. However, at this point, we’re all figuring out which songs and artists fit our tastes just right, and some may think mine is a little hot and cold.

We all went through the sad, heartbreak phase around sophomore year where the only songs playing through our headphones were “Marvins Room” by Drake and “What Hurts The Most” by Rascal Flatts. Though both songs still play on repeat in my car, I finally decided to broaden my music genre scope.

These few songs have been my go to recently because my mood changes so frequently. There is a little bit of everything on this playlist, but the first 10 songs just have me feeling like I should audition for The Voice.

  1. Big Jet Plane- my boyfriend mentioned on a whim one day that he liked this song, so of course I had to go listen. Since then, its been this vibey song I play while walking to class
  2. Dawns- what more do I even have to say?
  3. It Wasn’t Easy to be Happy for You- The freakin’ Lumineers just do it for me every. single. time., and we have all had the feeling of swallowing our pride and being happy for someone you really didn’t want to
  4. Rivers & Roads- a song about life changing and going separate ways from loved ones…this hits hard as a college freshman

5, 6, 7. Sunbleached Girl, Sweet Sublime, Hippies- I’ve recently been into the more alternative music, because it is so catchy and makes me want to wear flowy pants and drink kombucha on the beach

8. Crystal- not only sang by Stevie Nicks, but also a main song in one of my comfort movies, “Practical Magic”. I play this on full-blast in the car, wishing I was anywhere but where I was

9. Complicated- every girl needs a little Avril in their life to remind them that they’re a baddie…that’s all.

10. Search & Rescue- I rarely listen to rap, but I stumbled across this song while watching a tiktok of this woman reset her home before the work week started. This was also the time I was trying to pack up my whole dorm room into 5 plastic totes, so I needed a little motivation. Airpods in and Drake on max volume…that’s the motto.

Anyways, these songs are so freaking good and each of y’all need to go have a listen. I’m adding the link to my Apple Music below so I can put you on to some Indie/Alternative/Rap/Folk Country/Grunge music.
